2012 National Treasure Merchandise Design Competition

Creativity as the new collection

National Palace Museum is world-renowned for its abundant Chinese heritage. To make the public more aware of cultural and historical treasures, the design competition hopes to attract new talent to contribute to the product development inspired by the ancient artifacts.

Theme of the year is “The artistic taste of Emperor Qianlong”, in addition to echoing the earlier exhibition, also encouraged contestants to use the design vocabulary, material properties and modern engineering methods, to create new value for old relics, serving as reference for product developments.

In addition to the competition itself, by organizing lectures, campus tour, the exhibition of the winning works and other related events, the project hopes to contribute to cultural exchange, improve design quality output and provide a better environment for talent cultivation.
